Credit Card Information

We have gathered together an index of some of the many credit card suppliers in the UK. Some of these companies are financial institutions and we have included a brief history of their development. To view any of these credit card suppliers please follow the links given below.

  • Abbey National
    At the current moment Abbey has focus of two credit cards on offer, depending whether or not you are male or female you would choose either blue or pink credit card.
  • American Express
    American Express have not always provided credit cards, they originally started as a freight company in the US which evolved into selling money orders and travellers’ cheques.
  • Barclaycard
    Barclaycard is a credit card brought to you by Barclays Bank, one of the oldest and largest banks in the UK. Barclaycard is now available in many countries other than the UK.
  • Bank of Ireland
    The Bank of Ireland also offers Credit Card services for retail, personal, commercial and business. They offer a wide range of commercial credit cards and are the only Irish bank to offer businesses both Visa and American Express.
  • Bank of Scotland
    The Bank of Scotland was a financial institution in its own right until the merging of Halifax and BoS took place on 4 May 2001, creating the new bank called HBOS.
  • Bradford & Bingley
    The Bradford and Bingley Building Society offer many financial services including credit cards and loans.
  • Capital One
    Capital One is one of the most recent entrants into the financial market. Founded in 1995 as a local bank card issuer they have quickly evolved into being one of the largest credit card issuers in the World
  • Cahoot
    Cahoot are owned by Abbey National. That should tell you that they have a substantial amount of financial clout behind them. They are a little more 'trendy' than the esatblished
  • Citibank
    Citibank has been in circulation since 1812, and since then has grown from strength to strength, acquiring new businesses to create the huge financial institution that it is today.
  • Clydesdale
    Clydesdale Bank are a Scottish based bank which was founded in 1838 with a head office in Glasgow and another smaller branch in Edinburgh

    General Motors are the manufacturers for Vauxhall cars in the UK and have launched a credit card that is completely different to any other credit card offer that is available in the UK.

    The Hilton group which offers a UK credit card is part of a worldwide organisation which has a worldwide reputation for hotels and leisure facilities.
